LSU’s White House Visit Gets Incredibly Awkward After Trump Says Team Would Take Out Terrorists Like U.S. Military

Donald Trump clearly has no shame.

On Friday, he welcomed Louisiana State University’s football team to the White House following their national championship win. After he was gifted a jersey emblazoned with his name and invited the team to see the Oval Office, he made some pretty awkward remarks about LSU's victory.

“We'll take pictures behind the Resolute desk,” Trump said. “It's been there a long time. A lot of presidents, some good, some not so good. But you got a good one now, even though they're trying to impeach the son of a bitch, can you believe that?”

Of course, Trump can’t resist making the moment about himself, as he mentioned his impeachment and compared LSU’s win to himself and the government killing terrorists: “We got the greatest military—we rebuilt it, we took out those terrorists like your football team would have taken out out those terrorists, right?”

This was most likely a specific nod to the death of one of Iran's most powerful political figures, General Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in an airstrike carried out by U.S. forces in early January.

Some on Twitter noted how awkward the players' reactions were to Trump's speech, while others pointed out how Trump wasn't very thankful for the LSU jersey.
