Andy Ruiz Jr. Wants to Fight Deontay Wilder After Anthony Joshua Rematch

Andy Ruiz Jr. is prepared to continue slaying giants.

After shocking the world with his victory over Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz, Jr. is prepared to continue slaying giants. On Tuesday, TMZ reported that Ruiz wants to fight the undefeated, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

"That's what we're aiming for," Ruiz said. "But first things first, I got to get Joshua."

Immediately following his defeat, Anthony Joshua clearly stated his intentions to exercise his right to an immediate rematch. On Tuesday, Joshua's camp made things official when his promoter Eddie Hearn announced that the boxer will be triggering the rematch clause of his contract. Although fans are not certain how this fight will pan out, Ruiz has an unlikely supporter in his corner. Shortly after Joshua's defeat, Deontay Wilder went on record saying Ruiz would win a rematch if the two decide to fight again. Deontay also sent out Ruiz a congratulatory tweet.

Now, Ruiz has the chance to prove him right and hopefully become the next in line to take a shot at Wilder.

In addition to Wilder's blessing, Ruiz has luck on his side simply because he's not friends with Drake. While promoting his bout against Ruiz, Joshua took to social media where he posted a picture of himself and Drake captioned: "Bout to break the curse."

This, of course, was a premature and incorrect prediction. Joshua was on the receiving end of one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. Not only did he prolong the "Drake Curse," he's now the most famous example of Drizzy's bad luck. When asked about the cursed energies that follow Drake, Ruiz let it be known that he won't be enjoying Moët with Champagne Papi.

"Don't even bring Drake around me," Ruiz joked.
