As he prepares to spend another Mother's Day without his mom, Tee Grizzley has come through with a powerful track called "Locked Up."
The song finds the Detroit-bred rapper reflecting on the ways gun violence and the criminal justice system have impacted his family. Grizzley dedicated the record to his mom, Latoya Perry, who is currently serving a life sentence for drug trafficking.
"My mama locked up, my pops got popped up/Lil' bro still locked up, and they got me fucked up," he raps. "And when they see you without no cheese, they ain't gon' coach you/But they gon' hate and call you fake soon as you come up."

Grizzley will perform the song during his Rolling Loud set this Sunday. The rapper is also donating over $10,000 worth of Rolling Loud passes to fans with incarcerated parents. Grizzley says the donation, which was made in partnership with Children of Promise and Children of Inmates, will ensure these fans will not have to spend Mother's Day alone.
Grizzley has also confirmed a June 7 release for Scriptures, the follow-up to his 2018 project Activated. The album will be produced by Timbaland and released via 300 Entertainment.
