NBA superstar Kawhi Leonard might be currently leading the Toronto Raptors on their push to an NBA Finals appearance in the now LeBron-less Eastern Conference this season, but plenty of fans already cannot stop speculating about where the future free agent will be playing next season. The latest news of Leonard purchasing a $13.3 million mansion in Southern California has just added fuel to the fire.
Of course, the obvious conclusion to jump to is that Leonard is going to be joining the Lakers and playing with LeBron James next season. Maybe he even goes to the Clippers to give a boost to LA's second NBA franchise. However, the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year buying a mansion in the San Diego area doesn't really guarantee anything. For one, athletes purchase homes in the Los Angeles area all the time that they occupy them in the offseason. Leonard is also a So Cal native, so maybe he just wanted the opportunity to head over to his brand new mansion whenever he is feeling a little homesick.
One thing is for sure, the 27-year old has definitely gotten a little more frivolous with his spending. Purchasing a $13.3 million mansion is a far cry from driving a 1997 Chevy Tahoe and using coupons for free food like he did during his time with the San Antonio Spurs. According to the Los Angeles Times, the mansion features luxurious amenities like a dry bar, home theater, gourmet kitchen, tennis court, and massive pool.
Whatever the reason is for Kawhi's latest purchase, it certainly got the fans talking. Here are some of the best responses.
