Last Wednesday (Jan. 2), it was reported that the iconic wrestling figure "Mean" Gene Okerlund passed away at the age of 76. The news shocked the wrestling universe, and fans and fellow wrestlers have spent this past week celebrating his life and legacy.

Fellow Hall of Fame wrestler Hulk Hogan, who believed that much of his success was owed to Okerlund, made an appearance on Raw Monday night to honor the legacy of the late announcer. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, fans were ecstatic upon The Hulkster's return. He made his entrance in his full wrestling getup (including a shirt that said "Mean Gene-o-Mania") and stayed in character because he believed it was "exactly how 'Mean' Gene would've wanted it." During his speech the fans, (some holding "R.I.P." signs) erupted into cheers and praise for the late announcer.

Hogan's touching tribute was enhanced by his acknowledgement of other iconic figures in the wrestling universe that have also passed away, which included Macho Man Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Mr. Perfect, and Andre the Giant.
