Complex and 'NBA 2K' Celebrate 20 Years of the Gaming Franchise with a Documentary Series

In an all new, three part documentary series, Josh Hart, DJ Akademiks, Jinx, and more celebrity fans reflect on the 20-year legacy of 'NBA 2K'

Since its inception in 1999, few gaming franchises have permeated popular culture like 'NBA 2K', and even fewer can claim to match its longevity. The fall release of ‘NBA 2K19’ marks the game’s 20-year anniversary, and to celebrate the milestone, Complex is dropping a three-part documentary series entitled ‘The 2K Dynasty: 20 Years in the Making’, told through the lens of the biggest 2K celebrity stans on the planet.

In the premiere episode of 'The 2K Dynasty,' the flavor is gameplay. We cover the evolution of the graphics and avatars, emergence of the 2K League, and the “highly controversial” player rating system that has actual grown-men, NBA players getting tight. Among those speaking about the eSports mainstay include Lakers’ guard Josh Hart, game developer Michael Howard, rapper Pardison Fontaine, and Everyday Struggle host DJ Akademiks.
