'Madden 19' Gave These Players a 99 Rating

With the debut of Madden 19 approaching, the NFL video game has released player rankings for its top players. This unveiling has become an annual tradition for the highly successful football video-game franchise. Seven NFL athletes this year received the ultimate honor: a 99 rating.

Those players are: New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, his tight end Rob Gronkowski, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller, Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, and Los Angeles Rams defensive end Aaron Donald.

Five of the above players appeared in the top 10 of the NFL's annual top-100 players list. Those who landed further down on the list: Gronkowski (No. 15) and Kuechly (No. 12).

This list of 99 ratings isn't a perfect match to a list that was widely circulated last week—in fact, it's pretty different.

Brady was the game's cover star in 2018, and Gronk was on the cover in 2017. Terrell Owens will cover the Hall of Fame edition this year.

Madden 19 is slated for an initial release for PS4 and Xbox One Aug. 10. The Hall of Fame edition drops Aug. 7.
