Three of the biggest names in hoops—LeBron James, Maverick Carter, and Jay Williams—have collaborated to create a new documentary, dubbed Best Shot. With Emmy-nominated filmmaker Michael John Warren leading production, the show debuts on YouTube July 18.

An eight-part series, Best Shot follows Williams, the former No. 2 overall pick and current ESPN analyst, as he joins the Newark Central High School boy's basketball coaching staff in his home state of New Jersey. He partners with the school's longtime coach, Shawn "OG" McCray, to attempt to help the team win its first state title. In the process, the two coaches strive to mentor the players on both basketball and life matters.

"We're passionate about this story because it's about real high school students encountering real-life challenges," Carter told Complex. "All they need is that little push in the right direction and with a relatable mentor like Jay Williams guiding them, they’ve got a very real opportunity to change their lives forever.”

Warren, who previously directed Jay Z's Fade to Black, Fearless, and Drake: Better Than Good Enough, added, “I’m thrilled to be telling this dynamic and emotional story. It’s a multi-layered series that is as much about the universal human condition as it is basketball. I love that complexity and depth. I can't wait until the world see what we've got here!"

LeBron and Carter, longtime business partners, executive produced the documentary under the SpringHill Entertainment umbrella. This marks another documentary venture for SpringHill, which also produced Netflix's recently debuted The Carter Effect.

You can catch the series on the NBA's official YouTube channel.
