Terrell Owens Revealed as 'Madden 19: Hall of Fame Edition' Cover Athlete

Terrell Owens has been revealed as the cover athlete for 'Madden 19: Hall of Fame Edition.'

EA Sports has officially announced its yearly pro football title Madden 19. Along with the announcement of the next installment to the storied franchise is, of course, the unveiling of the game's latest cover athlete. This year, EA Sports has selected 2018 Hall of Fame inductee and former wide receiver Terrell Owens to grace the cover of its Hall of Fame Edition.

The controversial athlete helped reveal his cover star status with a mock press conference video posted to social media on Friday morning. In the video, T.O. teased making a return to football surrounded by hats of all 32 NFL teams before finally revealing his "return" would be to virtual football and not the real gridiron after all.

This final reveal follows recent antics by Owens on social media that led many to believe he was eyeing a return to the NFL, albeit at the ripe age of 44.

Worth noting, T.O. is donning a Dallas Cowboys jersey on the cover despite playing a majority of his career with the San Francisco 49ers from 1996 to 2003. Owens had previously stated that he would not be showing the Niners any love when he got inducted into the Hall of Fame. That being said, he could have some input into not being represented in his more recognizable maroon and gold uniform in favor of the Cowboys' white, silver, and blue.

The elite receiver also spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles that ended under less than stellar circumstances and ended his career in 2010 following back-to-back one-year stints on the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals well past his prime playing level.

Luckily for T.O., at least he won't have to worry about getting struck by the "Madden Curse" since his playing days are behind him.

Madden 19 is set to hit shelves on August 10 for all major consoles like PS4 and Xbox One priced at $79.99. It promises to offer more realistic animations, as well as updates to popular game modes like Ultimate Team and Connected Franchises. Those who choose to purchase the Hall of Fame Edition will be gifted 3-day early access and multiple upgrades to apply to Madden Ultimate Team. Get your popcorn ready.
