Comparisons between LeBron James and Michael Jordan aren't going to slow down any time soon—especially if James keeps breaking Jordan's records.
In a game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night, James threw down a thunderous dunk off a lob from JR Smith in the second period, securing his 866th consecutive game with at least 10 points. That matches the all-time record set by Jordan during a streak from March 25, 1986 to December 26, 2001.
Before the game, Cavaliers associate head coach Larry Drew acknowledged that it was a "phenomenal accomplishment," but he noted, "There will be more records down the road that he will be breaking, if he continues to produce the numbers that he has been producing."
It's a fair point. At 33 years old, James still appears to have plenty of gas left in the tank, and there will likely be many more records to fall before he retires. In the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's game, he also passed Kevin Garnett for 17th on the all-time steals list.
James finished with 41 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, as Cleveland earned a 118-105 victory over the Hornets. He was also nice enough to spare the rim from a brutal assault after getting fouled on a breakaway to the basket. Saved by the whistle.
