Soccer fans aren’t particularly known for their discretion. They sort of put NFL fans to shame. So when Paris Saint-Germain fans brought an absolutely massive Goku cut-out to cheer on their team, it wasn’t particularly out of character.

The Paris Saint-Germain vs. Marseille match is one of the most eagerly anticipated in the French league. So what does Goku have to do with PSG? Well, there are seven Dragon Balls in the eponymous Japanese series, which when collected, summon a dragon that grants wishes. And as this is PSG’s attempt for it’s seventh title, the character seemed apropos, if you will. Fans made Dragon Ball inspired banners for the team’s six previous titles. According to Reddit, one sports commentator didn't get the memo, and mistook Goku for Yu-Gi-Oh, another Japanese character from a different animated series.

It helps that PSG was playing on their home turf, since fans probably wouldn’t have been able to get away with the impressive albeit quirky display of support. We’re not sure whether Goku had anything to do it, but PSG did end up beating Marseille 3-0. You can peep some of the very committed Goku madness in the clip above.
