This year's men's halfpipe final came down to a dramatic finish in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Tuesday.

After falling on his second run, Shaun White was in second place behind Japanese competitor Ayumu Hirano. Standing at the top of the hill before his third and final run, White needed a nearly flawless final run to pass Hirano's second round score of 95.25.

Like we've seen him do so many times over the years, the 31-year-old snowboarder lived up to the moment and delivered a spectacular winning ride—landing back-to-back 1440s. The judges awarded him with an eye-popping score of 97.75.

After finishing fourth in Sochi four years ago, this was White's third Olympic gold medal of his career—and first since 2010. At the bottom of the hill, he met his family in an emotional embrace.

Shaun's winning run gave Team USA their fourth gold medal of the 2018 games, and their seventh medal overall. It also represented the United States' 100th Winter Olympics gold medal in the team's history.
