Blake Griffin Joked About Being Traded During a 2016 Standup Routine

Can Blake Griffin see the future?

We're only a few hours removed from the news that Blake Griffin was traded to the Detroit Pistons, and footage of the five-time NBA All-Star joking about getting traded during a standup set is already making the rounds. Sorry Blake — the internet never forgets.

During his set at last summer's Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, the amateur comedian imagined a world where you could get traded in romantic relationships. While Griffin included a low blow directed at the city's NHL team for dealing P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators, his bit was very well received. If he doesn't feel like suiting up for the Pistons, a career in standup is not out of the realm of possibility for the Dave Chappelle wannabe.

Griffin's trade shocked the NBA and further solidifies the notion that there's no such thing as job security in professional sports. Less than a year ago, the power forward seemed untouchable when he signed a five-year, $173 million extension with the Clippers under the assumption that the organization would have and hold him, through sickness and in health, until retirement do them part. But when the Pistons offered a first and second-rounder, in addition to Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, and Boban Marjanovic in exchange for Griffin, well it was simply an offer the Clippers couldn't refuse.
