UFC president Dana White stirred the sports world’s pot last week when he suggested that there was a real possibility of Floyd Mayweather signing a UFC deal. It sounded insane, and Mayweather himself shot down White's suggestion. In an interview with FightHype, Mayweather denied White's claims. He also made a very on-brand boast, claiming that since he’s already made $1 billion boxing, then he could definitely "get in the UFC and fight three fights or fight four fights and then fight Conor McGregor " to "make a billion dollars" again. But he repeated several times that even though he could, he wouldn’t.

"I'm not doing it," Mayweather said, "but I'm saying what I could do to make a billion dollars quick."

Despite Mayweather denying what White originally said, White is doubling down on his previous comments. In an interview with FOX Sports on Thursday, White claimed he has a meeting "later today" with Mayweather’s "crew."

White is basically repeating the same thing he said last week when he suggested rumors of Mayweather heading to the UFC were very real. "He was talking about [boxing] Conor McGregor. Was that real? Have you heard Floyd talk about many things that aren’t real? He usually tips his hand when he’s in the media and then that shit ends up happening," White argued. White has been stirring this particular pot since the summer during the lead up to the Mayweather/McGregor fight in August.

Mayweather, meanwhile, seemed to be fed up with the rumors last week. "We just don’t know what the future holds for Floyd Mayweather and I don’t look forward to getting back in the boxing ring," Mayweather said. "That’s what I don’t look forward to doing. I’m just saying I could. I’m not doing it but I’m saying what I could do to make a billion dollars quick if I wanted to do it. That’s what I am saying."

For now, whatever happens during White’s alleged "meeting" with Mayweather’s people will remain a mystery. But if the meeting is, in fact, taking place, things could get very interesting very quickly.
