The way the news cycle moves these days, we know about player transactions in sports long before they're actually made official. A select group of NBA reporters get the scoops directly from teams, agents, and players themselves, breaking contract details before the players actually put pen to paper.

Andre Iguodala decided he wasn't too satisfied with this arrangement. After taking a meeting with the Houston Rockets on Saturday, Iguodala returned to California to meet with representatives from the Golden State Warriors, who hoped to keep him as a valuable piece of the team's bench. They eventually came to an agreement on a three-year, $48 million contract, keeping the core of their title-winning team in place.

So who broke the news on the signing? None other than Iguodala himself, who mimicked the typical language used by reporters when they break these stories:

Sources close to Andre Iguodala reporting agreed to terms to return to the bay....

Some reporters got the news right after, but it was too late to get the real scoop. Others didn't even attempt to keep their reporter hat on, and had a laugh about the whole thing with Iguodala.

The only missing detail in Iguoadala's "report" was the final number, which was eventually cleared up by Yahoo's Shams Charania. If the Warriors swingman really wants to take a crack at this whole NBA reporting thing, he better make sure he can lock down the financial details of his own contract.

Things are getting expensive real quick for the Warriors, who also reportedly handed out a $200 million extension to star guard Steph Curry over the weekend. There has been debate about whether Curry is worth even more than that—including from LeBron James himself—but the more pressing matter for the Warriors is how their cap sheet is impacted.

In that case, Golden State needs to get maximum value out of the guys they end up keeping around. Iguodala moonlighting as a news breaker might not add value for them, but the rest of us will gladly take it.
