It’s normal for most teenagers nowadays to simply focus on their homework, finding a prom date, or holding down a part-time job. Alphonso Davies, however, is no ordinary teenager. The soccer phenom made his Major League Soccer debut last year at the age of 15, and he’s since found himself playing steady minutes for his current team, the Vancouver Whitecaps. His excellent play as of late has attracted scouts over at some big name clubs, with British media outlets already linking him to Manchester United. Before all of this newfound success, however, Davies and his family were taking refuge in Ghana after fleeing the civil war conflict in Liberia. Needless to say, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for the young star who now travels the world playing the game he so dearly loves.

This week, Alphonso made yet another major move when he obtained his Canadian citizenship. It was a big moment for the Davies family, who have made countless sacrifices to allow their talented son some amazing opportunities. Upon being granted his Canadian passport, Davies quickly suited up for his new national squad for some training in Montreal. Now, Whitecaps fans are being treated to a special behind-the-scenes look at Alphonso’s recent and incredible journey. The team has released an awesome documentary entitled Becoming Canadian: The Alphonso Davies Story, and you can watch it all above via YouTube.
