There's no denying that Allen Iverson was always tough. But, at 6-foot and 165 pounds, A.I. was also one scrawny dude. That didn't stop him from putting up the type of numbers that landed him in the Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this year. On Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers honored Iverson with a Sixers Hall of Fame induction ceremony during halftime of the team's game against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Wells Fargo Center. Prior to the event, Iverson spoke to the media, and one reporter got to the bottom as to why he never lifted, bro.
Where's the lie? Iverson also addressed the growing trend of NBA coaches resting their players. "I'm not taking anything away from the new era and way things go now, but I could never, ever, ever sit out a game if something wasn't broke," he said. "I couldn't do it, because I thought about you all wanted to see me. I always wanted to put on a show."
Given his hard-nosed playing style and tendency of throwing his body in harm's way night in and night out, Iverson's small frame sustained its fair share of injuries.
However, that never stopped him from competing for as long as his body would allow him.
