Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith might be well past his prime at this point in his NFL career—he actually planned on retiring after last season before suffering a devastating injury that forced him to miss the second half of the year—but he’s still a really solid player. During Baltimore’s game against the Browns on Thursday night, he recorded five receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown, and while those numbers won’t necessarily blow you away, Smith is still one of the most reliable weapons in Joe Flacco’s arsenal.

He’s also still one of the best trash talkers in the NFL, and he proved that again on Thursday night when he responded to some comments that former NFL player/current NFL analyst Rodney Harrison made about him recently. Harrison took a jab at Smith and the Ravens’ offense in October by insinuating that they’re in trouble if Smith is one of their best options on the offensive side of the ball.

"I look at Steve Smith and he is your best payer, but the problem is he is a 37-year-old wide receiver," Harrison said. "He is coming off a major surgery. Once he left the game, then your toughness and production left. They have some good young wide receivers, but they don’t have a lot of NFL experience."

Obviously, that didn’t sit well with Smith, who took the time to address his critics during a post-game interview with the NFL Network crew on Thursday.

"I’m feeling good," Smith said. "Some people may, you know, some people have said, certain people that work for this crowd, said that when this offense depends on a 37-year-old, it’s in trouble. I look at a guy like that, he’s just upset that what I’m doing at 37, he couldn’t do at 31."

It was clear who Smith was talking about, but Michael Irvin asked who these "people" were, and Smith wasn’t shy about calling Harrison out by name. "Rodney Harrison," he said. "I shoot darts now. I’m not nameless. He knows how hard it is to play this game, and then he’s going to take it away and say, 'Well, if they depend on him at 37…' I respect the heck out of Rodney Harrison, but don’t take digs at me. Because I’ll dig back and dig deeper. My shovel’s bigger than your shovel."

In addition to calling him out, Smith also demonstrated that his shovel is, in fact, bigger than Harrison’s shovel:

We’re going to miss this guy when he’s gone.
