During this past week a mini-controversy sprouted up when Dez Bryant no-showed an MRI on his right leg and also skipped a practice, a treatment session, and two team meetings. The ability for Bryant to do this and still keep his job is of course the envy of workers everywhere.

Bryant stated that he avoided last week's medical test out of fear that he had a severe injury, and head coach Jason Garrett kind of defended the move (as a coach has to, since star players hold the power in the NFL), saying, "He's an emotional person and he didn't handle it the right way. What we have to do as a team is we have to handle it the right way."

Bryant later tweeted about the whole scenario:

I made a poor decision based on how I felt about my knee coach JG addressed it to me and I understood the consequences....

However this doesn't really sound like anything near an isolated incident as, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Bryant seriously sucks at showing up for his job on time. He has reportedly been late to, and missed, a number of medical treatments and team meetings, and has even hired his own driver in response to the issue. In his seven-year Dallas career, Bryant has been AWOL or late to these team functions somewhere between 20 and 40 times. A Dallas player, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Schefter, "If you were hoping for him to come to a scheduled meeting, he may or may not be there; but if you need a first down on third-and-14, throw it to Dez."

Additionally, one of Schefter's sources told him that he believes the Cowboys are enabling Bryant with weak punishments, while yet another expressed concern that Dez's eating habits/lack of sleep will lead to his career being over well before it should.
