Twitter Is Roasting The New Edmonton Oilers Mascot

"Hunter The Lynx", isn't exactly a big hit with fans.

The Edmonton Oilers aren't exactly the NHL's most successful franchise. In fact, the team currently holds the record for longest playoff drought, at 10 straight years. If you remove its storied history, the only shining light for fans, is the possession of kid superstar, Connor McDavid. The aforementioned's recovery from a fractured clavicle, was supposed to be the beginning of new and exciting things for the team. Then the squad traded elite winger Taylor Hall, in a highly questionable swap.

Unfortunately for the Copper and Blue, the Oilers can't get anything right. Earlier today, the team debuted "Hunter the lynx", and called the new mascot "crazy". Yup, we'd say that's a pretty accurate description.

The kids might like him, but Twitter isn't having any of it. Popular go-to hockey blog, Puck Daddy, playfully referred to Hunter as the "nightmare cat". See the rest of the reactions below.

Twitter user, @mikeFAIL, remixed the Oilers' official release into an even creepier mess.

We'll see how creepy the Nightmare Cat is on-ice, when the Oilers begin their season next month. In the meantime, try not to get lost in Hunter's soul-stealing gaze.
