The 2016 MLB All-Star game had a rough—and very controversial—start Tuesday night when The Tenors decided to change the lyrics to the Canadian national anthem.

The Vancouver-based group replaced the original lyrics, "With glowing hearts we see thee rise/The True North strong and free!" with "We're all brothers and sisters/All lives matter to the great." One of the members was also spotted carrying an “All Lives Matter" sign during the performance.

Of course, their political statement didn’t go over too well. Some Canadians were upset that the group had the nerve to alter "O Canada," while the majority were upset about the phrase "All Lives Matter," which is widely considered a dismissive response to the “Black Lives Matter” movement.

Twitter didn’t hesitate to blast the group’s ill-conceived move.

How about not changing the lyrics to the Canadian anthem to make a racist and ignorant statement. That's always an option #tenors

Really Tenors? That was appropriate? That was embarrassing! #AllStarGame

What's impressive with the Tenors' rendition of "O Canada" is how they added a racist verse while preserving the misogynistic one.

You have no authority, @TenorsMusic, to alter the words to an anthem of unity and patriotism to meet your ignorant political ends. Cease.

@TenorsMusic If you don't fully understand the issue don't embarrass yourselves & by extension your countrymen by changing the anthem.

twisted our anthem to promote your racism? Nice. @MLB @cliftonmurray @victormicallef @fraserwalters @RemigioPereira

.@TenorsMusic Read. Re-read. Repeat as necessary until you understand why "all lives matter" is a racist statement. pic.twitter.com/mylFrsXYnn
