Since the tragic shootings involving Alton Sterling and Philando Castile earlier this week, a number of athletes have utilized their platform in order to let their voices be heard. LeBron Jamesexpressed his sorrow on Twitter, saying he "shed multiple tears about it all." Carmelo Anthony posted a lengthy message on his website, urging his fellow athletes to "step up and take charge" and demanding that "we need to come together more than anything at this time."

On Saturday, four Minnesota Lynx players sported black warm-up shirts with the message "Change starts with us -- Justice & Accountability" emblazoned on the front with "Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and Black Lives Matter" on the back.

Prior to last night's game against the Dallas Wings, Lindsay Whalen, Rebekkah Brunson, Maya Moore, and Seimone Augustus held a news conference to speak with reporters about the recent heartbreaking events in Baton Rouge, La., Falcon Heights, Minn., and Dallas, Texas. "If we take this time to see that this is a human issue and speak out together, we can greatly decrease fear and create change," Moore said. "Tonight we will be wearing shirts to honor and mourn the losses of precious American citizens and to plead for change in all of us."
