If you haven’t heard by now, Ayesha Curry caused quite the commotion on Twitter on Thursday night when she sent out a tweet at the end of Game 6 of the NBA Finals about how she feels the NBA is “rigged”:

She deleted the tweet a short time later, but before she did, it received tens of thousands of retweets and likes, and people responded very strongly to it on Twitter. The reaction was so strong that, after deleting the tweet, Ayesha took to Twitter again to apologize for it and to explain that she was on edge because her father had nearly been arrested at the game:

Police racial profiled my father and told him to remove credentials and tried to arrest him. It's been a long night for me. I apologize:

That explanation didn’t stop people from going in on her, but as it turns out, what Ayesha said about her father is true. The Undefeated reporter Marc J. Spears spoke with an NBA official following the Warriors’ Game 6 loss who confirmed that Ayesha’s father had his credentials checked thoroughly on Thursday because NBA security suspected he might a con artist named David Aminzadeh who has managed to work his way into dozens of major sporting events in the past. Spears also spoke with Steph Curry, who was notified of the incident by an NBA official after the game, and he talked to Spears about how his father-in-law “almost got arrested.”

“I was just kind of debriefed on what the security thought happened with some guy that poses with fake credentials and gets backstage at a lot of events, the NBA Finals and all that stuff,” Curry said. “They kind of profiled my father-in-law and thought he was him. They threatened to arrest him before they checked out his credentials. It’s kind of been an emotional and tough night all around. "

Curry added: "That was kind of a traumatic situation where her [Ayesha's] dad almost got arrested. So it was kind of a tough situation to deal with in a hostile environment. All in all, it's just a game. I hope that everybody is all right."

Curry also talked to Spears about what his wife wrote on Twitter earlier in the night, and he said that he didn’t fault her for doing it.

“When it comes to Twitter and all that, everybody says stuff where you get caught in the moment,” Curry said. “After a while, you kind of stand and calm down. Things might not be as you thought…I don’t fault her for showing some emotion on Twitter.”

No one is more excited to leave Cleveland than the Currys right now. Between everything that happened on Thursday night and the social media altercation that Curry’s sister Sydel got into with a Cavaliers fan last week, Cleveland has not been especially kind to Steph & Co.
