After the Thunder beat the Spurs last Thursday night to advance to the Western Conference Finals against the Warriors, ESPN First Take analyst Skip Bayless was quick to say he didn’t think Oklahoma City was going to be able to beat Golden State in the series. In fact, Bayless went as far as to say he didn’t think OKC was going to be able to win a single game against Steph Curry & Co.:
Thunder players didn’t respond to Bayless and his prediction right away. But on Monday night, they opened up their WCF series with the Warriors by winning Game 1 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, and after the game ended, one Thunder player took it upon himself to remind Bayless about what he had said prior to the start of the series. Enes Kanter—who scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds during 18 minutes of action in Game 1—“apologized” to Bayless on Twitter:
Bayless didn’t respond to Kanter, but we would guess he will have something to say in response to him during Tuesday morning’s episode of First Take. And based on some of the tweets Bayless sent out late Monday night, we would guess that he plans on blaming the referees for the Warriors’ Game 1 loss:
It's worth noting that, when he made his official WCF prediction, Bayless did pick the Warriors in five games, which means he thought the Thunder would be able to win a game against them. But that doesn't make Kanter's tweet any less funny.
Stay tuned to see what Bayless has to say on First Take on Tuesday with regards to Kanter’s tweet.
