On Friday, former Hawks player and current Turkish Leaguer Pero Antic filed the paperwork for a lawsuit against the NYPD that could total $25 million. Antic listed a number of accusations in his complaint including: assault, battery, unlawful imprisonment, negligence, malicious prosecution and civil rights violations. Antic's attorney stated that "The NYPD has all but conceded that they falsely and improperly arrested Pero," before adding "They will now be held responsible."

Today current Hawks player Thabo Sefolosha said he'll do the same later this week, except his total could double to $50 million. He's expected to list both the NYPD along with "other city agencies" in his case.

Both suits are a result of an encounter between the two players and the police that took place on April 8 of last year. The duo was said to be "interfering with a crime scene," but was later cleared of any wrongdoing. We highly doubt this was consolation for Sefolosha's leg which sustained ligament damage and was also broken, and subsequently forced him to miss Atlanta's Conference Finals run.

Back in October, Sefolosha put together a notice to "preserve his right to sue." At the time he said he was unsure if he wanted to "go back into the legal system."

It's now pretty clear why he filed that.
