Ben Simmons and Thon Maker will be joined by a third Australian at the Barclays Center in June, as Emmanuel Malou has decided to enter the 2016 NBA Draft.

Malou, a 6'9", 210lb (95kg) forward averaged 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game with Yuba College in north-eastern California. He had recently signed on to attend Iowa State and suit up for the Cyclones, but has today entered the 2016 NBA Draft.

The Australian forward has not hired an agent, leaving his option to return to Iowa State open. Malou declared himself ready for the draft in a Twitter post today, stating.

I have decided to declare for the 2016 NBA Draft as an early entrant in order to find out what my options are. Playing in the NBA has been my dream and was a big part of the reason why I moved to the US from Australia several years ago.

Regardless of whether he is picked up by an NBA team, the future of Australian basketball is looking golden with so many talented prospects attracting the attention of the world's premier league.
