After former Cronulla Sharks playmaker Todd Carney was caught pissing in his own mouth in 2014, his employer thought ‘yeah nah’ and showed the talented but troubled five-eighth the door.

Carney has since found a new employer in French Super League club Catalans Dragons, but the pain of what happened in 2014 is obviously still bubbling away inside.

In fact, Carney believes he was harshly treated, and is attempting to sue the Cronulla Sharks to the tune of over $2 million for wrongful dismissal. He claims Steve Noyce, then the CEO at the Sharks, fired Carney over the phone after the infamous bubbler photo surfaced. Carney claims he was not given the opportunity to plead his case before the board.

The Sharks claim that by pissing in his own mouth, Carney breached the NRL code of conduct, and therefore their action was warranted.

To further defend themselves, the Sharks will reportedly be presenting a full report listing each of Todd Carney’s misdemeanours, which will 100% be the most interesting thing any of us are going to read this week. The idea that there is more to this story that perhaps the general public isn't aware of, certainly raises interest around the case.

The case will continue today at NSW’s Supreme Court.
