Over the weekend, boxer Cody Nixon—who hails from Toronto but has spent a lot of time traveling the world and documenting it on his Instagram page @travelwithcody—posted a photo of him standing inside of a Ferrari in Dubai:
Sadly, it ended up being the last photo Nixon would ever take.
According to reports out of Dubai, Nixon and two unidentified people were killed on Sunday after the Ferrari that they were traveling in crashed into a light pole and split in half. A spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada confirmed that two of the people killed in the accident were Canadian with one being Nixon and the other believed to be his cousin that he was traveling with at the time.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the two Canadian citizens who passed away in the United Arab Emirates,” the spokesperson said.
It’s unclear what caused the crash at this time. Nixon’s former gym Motor City Boxing Club, which is located in Oshawa, Ontario, posted this message on Facebook after hearing the news today:
RIP. It looks like this guy lived his life to the fullest, but it's still such a sad story.
