As recently as just a year ago, it was rare to see James Harden on TMZ. He was featured on the site a few times because of his beef with Lil B, but outside of that, he steered clear of the TMZ photographers. That all changed when he started dating Khloe Kardashian last year.
When you date a Kardashian, it’s just about impossible to keep yourself off TMZ, so Harden made regular appearances on the site over the last seven or eight months. It seems like he’ll be making fewer appearances on TMZ now that he and Khloe have reportedly broken up, though. But it doesn’t sound like he’s all that upset about it. During an appearance on ESPN’s Russillo & Kanell today, Harden said that all the attention wasn’t for him.
“For me, I don’t really like all that attention,” he said, “especially attention that’s not needed.”
Harden went on to call the Kardashians “amazing” and to say that they “have a really great family.” But he seemed particularly bothered by all the attention he got for wearing Air Jordans last year after agreeing to sign a $200 million deal with adidas.
“It was really weird,” he said. “Just wearing sneakers, who cares? Why are you making it a big deal? It’s not.”
Harden will come off the bench for the Western Conference during the 2016 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.
