Reddit User Unveils Images Of Absurd Forgotten AFL Cookbook From The '90s

What a time to have been alive.

The 1990s were not particularly kind to most individuals in terms of style or taste – but one Reddit user, "happy-little-atheist", has finally uncovered the holy grail of AFL swagger (or distinct lack thereof). Posting an imgur album to r/AFL with only the title "Early 90s AFL cookbook", the user has blessed us with a series of pages from the clearly very successful Who Rules The Aussie Kitchen: Footy Stars Favourite Recipes cookbook.

The book features a set of dishes that we're presumably supposed to believe were made by the footballers pictured next to them, like Wayne Carey's  Chicken and Grilled Eggplant Lasagne, and Tim Watson's Tasty Thai Tiger Prawns. The images range widely, with some footballers like Carey, Brian Taylor and Doug Hawkins all looking incredibly uncomfortable even holding their chosen food, let alone having actually cooked it themselves.

Others somehow look undeniably cool, with Bruce Lindner looking fly decked out in Adidas while he tucks into a Prawn and Vegetable Stir-fry, or John Longmire popping a near rap squat on the footy field with a plate of tacos. The rest are simply bizarre, for example, Paul Couch holding a dead fish that almost appears to be dripping unidentified fluids. You can find the whole gallery here, but you can check out some of the choice cuts below.
