Lawrence Phillips was reportedly found dead in his prison cell early this morning.
The former Nebraska standout and troubled ex-NFL running back was serving a 31-year sentence for a myriad of charges ranging from domestic abuse to driving a car into three teenagers after a pickup football game. While incarcerated at Kern Valley State Prison in California, Phillips also allegedly killed his cellmate Damion Soward last year and was staring down the possibility of the death penalty.
Phillips' death is being investigated as a suspected suicide. He was 40. Stay tuned for further details.
