We might have to wait longer than we thought to see David Haye trade blows with Anthony Joshua.
Ex-world heavyweight champion Haye announced his comeback following a three-year lay off with a stunning one round demolition of Australian fighter Mark De Mori at the weekend and attention has already turned to where his future lies.
When Haye announced his comeback for a final shot at unifying the world heavyweight titles, he told Complex that a clash with unbeaten heavyweight hope Anthony Joshua is "a natural fight to make" – unfortunately, AJ's promoter Eddie Hearn doesn't feel quite the same way:
"We’re targeting a world title in 2016 and David doesn’t really help with that cause.
David Haye still possesses KO punch power.
Prior to his comeback, not many really gave Haye much of a chance in a showdown with Joshua, who won a gold medal at London 2012.
Since Haye's win over De Mori – which most fight fans would admit was something of an exhibition, as oppose to a real test – the bookmakers have shortened the odds on Haye to be victorious in the fantasy match up.
David Haye is expected to pursue a shot at Ruslan Chagaev's regular WBA title.
