On Wednesday night, Jahlil Okaforwas involved in a street fight outside of a nightclub in Boston. During the fight, he yelled at a heckler and punched him in the face. Earlier this afternoon, Okafor spoke with reporters about the incident for the first time and called it “dumb."

“It was definitely dumb on my part,” he said. “Something I’m embarrassed about. Still dealing with the league and the team, but I’m not happy about it at all. We’re still going through the process of what we’re going to do.”

Okafor went on to say that the incident is "not who I am."

“I’m ashamed with what I did and that’s not who I am,” he said. “Everybody that reached out to me that’s in my circle, they know that’s not who I am. So I have a great support system, and they will continue to support me.”

Boston police have said that they will not investigate the incident unless someone comes forward to press charges. But Okafor will likely face some kind of penalty from the NBA. Stay tuned for details.
