The Cowboys' record should be the least of their (and everybody's) worries after the images of Greg Hardy's ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder's bruises hit the web. Jerry Jones finally made a statement after the graphic revelation.
While we did not have access to the photos that became public today, we were and are aware of the serious nature of this incident. We as an organization take this very seriously. We do not condone domestic violence. We entered into the agreement with Greg fully understanding that there would be scrutiny and criticism. We have given Greg a second chance. He is a member of our team and someone who is grateful for the opportunity he has been given to move forward with his life and his career.
So Jones is still supporting Hardy and sticking to the "second chance" defense. However, "second chance" may be a euphemism for "can he play well on the field." He slapped a coach's clipboard and tussled with Dez Bryant during a game. But those altercations are a far, far second to having a woman fear for her life.
