UPDATE:

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne just revealed Matt Barnes' side of the story after speaking with him on the phone this afternoon. According to Barnes, he didn't go to his ex-wife Gloria Govan's home to confront Derek Fisher on Saturday night. Rather, he went to check on his 6-year-old twin sons after one of them texted him.

"I'm like, first of all, why are you still up? It's like 10 o'clock at night?' " Barnes said. "So I text back, 'I love you and I miss you, too." Then I FaceTimed him. I'm just like, 'Hey, what's up buddy?'"

Barnes also told ESPN that he didn't drive 95 miles to Govan's home as previously reported. He was at home at the time of the incident and was only about 15 minutes away.

"I can't believe people think I was some maniac driving 95 miles and listening to Tupac to go beat somebody up," Barnes said. "No. I live 15 minutes away and I was going over to check on my kids because they seemed uncomfortable. That was my main reason for going over there."

Sounds like Derek Fisher needs to work on his defense.

In the latest details to emerge from his fracas with Matt Barnes last weekend, TMZ is reporting the Knicks coach was hit by Barnes "in the mouth with a closed fist" after the Memphis Grizzlies forward confronted Fisher in the home of his ex-wife Gloria Govan

The report also details how Barnes felt "betrayed" by Fisher, a former teammate whom Barnes once considered a friend, for courting Govan.

Fisher didn't just take a punch as he fought back and was "holding his own" during the dust-up. Fisher and Barnes were both "bleeding from the scrap" and were separated by several people attending a party at Govan's house, including the "Real Basketball Wives of LA" cast member.

The New York Postwas first to report that Barnes and Fisher were involved in an altercation at Govan’s home in Los Angeles Saturday. Barnes reportedly left Grizzlies training camp in Santa Barbara, Calif. and drove 95 miles to confront Fisher and “beat the shit” out of him. According to the Post, Fisher been dating Govan for "a few months."

Fisher did not comment on the incident following the Knicks preseason game in New York Wednesday night. But he did apparently explain the situation to his players.

Derek Fisher spoke to his players about his personal problems. Jose Calderon said explanation wasn't necessary http://t.co/rF5jLTcEPQ
