It looks like Amir Khan's dream of a superfight with a pound-for-pound king is slipping away.

After failing in his quest to lure Floyd Mayweather into the ring, the British fighter has announced that he's pulled out of negotiations to fight Manny Pacquaio because the Filipino fighter is taking too long to sign a contract.

Both Khan and Pacquiao camps have been vocal in talking up the prospect of the two fighting at light welterweight in Dubai next year, which makes Khan's decision to back out of negotiations all the more eyebrow-raising.

Speaking to The National, Khan said he's now looking for another fight in spring 2016:

"I'm really disappointed in Manny and his team. They aren't playing ball. All that was left to do is to sign the contract. But they are stalling. I have pulled out of the negotiations. I am no longer fighting Manny Pacquiao.

Khan says he could fight Danny Garcia or Tim Bradley next.

Of course, this could all just be yet more posturing from the Khan team.

Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao have rarely been off the lips of the Bolton fighter this past year and it's rumoured that his trash talking was what convinced Mayweather to look elsewhere for his final fight.

If Amir Khan still isn't sure of what direction to take his career, the biggest fight in British boxing is right here. Just give Kell Brook a call.
