Way back in 2008, a man named Michael David Barrettvideotaped then-ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews in the nude through the peephole of a Marriott hotel room in Tennessee—and then released the clips that he captured online. The FBI launched an investigation into it and, eventually, Barrett pleaded guilty to felony stalking and was sent to prison for 30 months.
Andrews filed a lawsuit against the Marriott, Barrett, and several other defendants in a Nashville, Tenn. court in December 2011 and claimed that they were guilty of both negligence and invasion of privacy. But amazingly, that lawsuit still hasn’t been settled. And now, new court documents show that the Dancing With the Stars host is asking for $75 million in the lawsuit. The lawsuit is expected to go to trial soon with a handful of hotel employees set to testify about what led to Barrett being able to film Andrews.
