Things went awry from simply just X's and O's at a Mississippi junior college football game on Saturday.  The contest got so nuts that even the referee got tossed out the game. Yeah, that's right— the referee.

The game was played between East Mississippi Community College and Itawamba Community College, which was already lit with intensity to start. An apparent miscommunication between the game's official and EMCC's head coach Buddy Stephens about taking his team behind their sidelines drove the official to throw a punch and clipboard at him.

According to Mississippi's WCBI-TV Sports Director Robby Donoho, who was present at the game, tweeted his memo about the scuffle that transpired:

Then Mississippi Gridiron Magazine writer Brandon Shields detailed in a tweet that the fighting didn't stop with the coach and official:

And a few plays later ICC's Quinn Tiggs and EMCC's Damion Willis are trading blows

We hope that this video given to their league authorities comes out for us to see soon. After all, it's fun to watch a referee take matters into his own hands. As long as he knows how to protect himself in the melee that could ensue while getting gully in his stripes.
