Trayce Thompson has been slowly working his way up the Chicago White Sox minor league system ever since the team drafted him out of high school in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft. For more than six years he's developed his skills and, after one of the team's outfielders went down with an injury a week-and-a-half ago, Trayce was finally able to make it to the game's top level.
Tonight, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Trayce hit his first career home-run (video above, obviously). Afterward, he was greeted with the same joke every team's been doing for the last 100 years, the act of being ignored as he returned to the dugout:
While his brother was doing important things (see: hitting half-court shots on a bike) his Twitter account made it clear that he was able to see his little bro go yard:
Good for Trayce, got to be an awesome moment after six years of toiling through long bus rides and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the minors. Now, as a White Sox fan, I sincerely hope we're not all referring to this guy as "Klay Thompson's brother" for the rest of his career.
