Following Friday's practice, New York Giants fans started jockeying for position in order to get Odell Beckham Jr.'s autograph, causing the bleachers to buckle and the railings to bend forward under the pressure.
In a statement released later in the night, the Giants acknowledged that "a portion of a bleacher shifted during the autograph session following training camp practice today." The organization adds, "According to Seating Solutions, the supplier of the bleachers, the shift was caused due to an unexpected surge in spectators. There were no injuries reported as a result of that incident, and the fans were immediately removed from the area."
While there were no injuries to report, Newsday's Tom Rock gave some horrifying accounts of what he saw during the turbulent incident.Â
The Giants will now move their post-practice autograph signing to another location and limit it to children 12 and under. Â
