Amir Khan Says He's Held Talks with Manny Pacquiao about Fighting Him in Dubai

Since he can't get a fight with Floyd Mayweather, Amir Khan is turning his attention to Manny Pacquiao.

Since he can't get a fight with Floyd Mayweather, Amir Khan is turning his attention to Manny Pacquiao.

The Bolton boxer's dream of facing the world's pound-for-pound king are all but over, with Mayweather set to face the underwhelming Andre Berto in what could be his final fight later this year.

Khan's wasted no time in moving on from that disappointment though, and says his next fight could be against the man Mayweather beat in the biggest boxing fight of all time, Manny Pacquiao.

Speaking to the National, Khan said he's already negotiating with Pacquaio's camp:

"There have been talks of an Amir Khan fight in Dubai for many years now. Everyone knows my position: I am ready to fight if they are serious about it. Bob Arum has contacted my team to fight Manny Pacquiao around March or April in Dubai. Let’s see how that develops.

Khan has been accused of ducking a fight with Kell Brook.

Right now, the biggest fight on the table for Khan is against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook

As a world title fight between two British fighters, it'd be a sure candidate to sell out Wembley Stadium and give all the records that Froch-Groves II set in 2014 a run for their money.

While Kell Brook has repeatedly said he's ready for the fight, Amir isn't so sure – despite meeting Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn:

"We had a meeting at my office and we discussed everything for a potential fight against Brook in 2016. I have made it clear to Eddie that I want this fight to be a big fight worldwide, not just in the UK.

Real talk or ready made excuses?
