Sports icon Hulk Hogan is trying to take down Gawker in court as a result of their decision to publish a sex tape showing him getting it on with his friend’s wife.

The sex tape, which is actually security camera footage, was published back in 2012. Since then, Gawker has refused to take it down, and will now go to court against Hogan starting on July 6. Hogan is suing for over $100 million in damages.

This will be a historic case, as no celebrity sex tape has ever made it to jury. The case could also set a precedent for how online publishers deal with privacy issues over this sort of material in the future.

Gawker founder Nick Denton has admitted that he does not have $100 million on hand to pay out if Hogan wins, so the verdict could potentially shut down Gawker. However, he's standing by his right to what he considers free speech. We'll see what happens in court; this could be the toughest match of Hogan's career.
