Last season, Vikings star Adrian Peterson spent a lot of time in court because of child abuse-related charges that were filed against him in Texas. AP was eventually able to reach a plea deal in his case, but the charges resulted in him serving what amounted to a season-long suspension. And now, it sounds like another NFL player might be facing similar charges in the near future.

According to TMZ Sports, Broncos defensive end Antonio Smith is being investigated in Fort Bend County, Texas for alleged child abuse. Few details about the allegations have been released. But TMZ Sports is reporting that Smith's accuser has told police about abuse that dates as far back as 2010.

No charges have been filed against Smith at the moment. But an investigation is underway.

"We're trying to discern the truth from the untruthfulness of the claim to decide what charges, if any, will be filed," Fort Bend County District Attorney John Healey told TMZ Sports.
