If you were on Twitter yesterday afternoon, your timeline was most likely bombarded by an endless barrage of MLB-related tweets. Right before the NCAA men's basketball national championship game, baseball celebrated another Opening Day across the United States. MLB fans hit the Internet hard to rejoice in #BaseballBack, and because emojis are the best way to get a point across (words are too 20th century), Fangraphs pooled together as many Opening Day tweets as they could, and sorted them by fan base and emoji usage.

Here's how their data stacked up:

1.

A few observations:

  • The baseball emoji exists.

  • San Francisco Giants fans are clearly feeling themselves with the liberal usage of the #onehunna emoji. (Whatever, World Series.)

  • Oakland Athletics fans value love over baseball.

  • Chicago Cubs fans are way too giddy for no damn reason.

  • Detroit Tigers fans were clearly stressed by David Price's uneven 9th inning. (Enough to fight next to a dumpster.

  • San Diego Padres fans are pumped about their big trade

  • Milwaukee Brewers fans, very conscious of Wisconsin's national title game, are definitely salty this morning.

  • That Tiger emoji is mad cute.
