There have been a lot of important dates throughout the course of American history. For example:

  • July 4, 1776: The day Congress approved the Declaration of Independence.

  • April 30, 1789: The day George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States.

  • January 24, 1848: The day gold was discovered in California, sparking the "California Gold Rush."

But yesterday, April 22, 2015, may very well go down as the most important date of all. Because yesterday is the day that the sports world was first introduced to…THE TACO-SHOOTING CANNON!

The University of Nebraska-Omaha is preparing to open a new state-of-the-art $81 million arena for their basketball, hockey, and volleyball teams. And when they do, a local restaurant called Voodoo Taco is going to help usher in a new era in UNO sports by introducing a taco-shooting cannon:

Voodoo Taco owner Eric Newton admits the tacos won't be "restaurant quality." So that kinda sucks. And we're also a little bit sad about the fact that his taco cannon doesn't look like this taco cannon:

But really, does it even matter? Voodoo's taco-shooting cannon is going to change sports the world. #NeverForget where you were when you first heard about it.
