The Browns Might Be Ready to Give Up on Johnny Manziel

Is the Johnny Manziel era already over in Cleveland?

Johnny Manziel started two games for the Browns during his rookie season last year. Two games. And yet, it sounds like Cleveland is already preparing to part ways with the quarterback that they picked in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Obviously, the Browns haven't come out and said this. Manziel is still in rehab at the moment, so the organization is backing him publicly. But according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Browns are incredibly close to cutting ties with the guy that they drafted to be their franchise quarterback:

If this turns out to be true, it wouldn't be the most surprising thing in the world. Manziel hasn't done anything to indicate that he's the quarterback of the future for the Browns. But we have a hard time believing that they would release Manziel anytime soon. So stay tuned for further developments.
