Stony Brook was so close to clinching their first trip to the NCAA Tournament today. So, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, soooooooooooooo close. That is, until Albany guard Peter Hooley threw up a three-pointer at the end of the America East title game with his team trailing Stony Brook by two points and….OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WELCOME TO MARCH $&%^*@* MADNESS!

Oh, and as if that shot wasn't already incredible enough, Hooley has a pretty crazy back story, too. Earlier this season, he left the Albany team for about a month to be by his mother's side in Australia as she fought colon cancer. She passed away after battling the disease. So after he hit his game-winning shot today, his sister had a terrific reaction to it on Twitter:

Wow.
