Earlier this week, we showed you Powerade's #PowerThrough ad starring Derrick Rose with some narration from Tupac. It was an especially powerful campaign given Rose's recent setback with a torn meniscus in his right knee. As Tupac recites the words, "You see you wouldn't ask why the rose that grew from the concrete had damaged petals...On the contrary, we would celebrate its tenacity," from his song, “Mama’s Just a Little Girl,” you begin to see some of the parallels between the rapper and D-Rose.
In this extended clip, we hear Rose speak on his childhood, growing up in Chicago, overcoming adversity and turning into the positive role model he is today for the kids in his hometown and across the nation. Then, D-Rose discusses his thoughts on Tupac and what his life meant to the Bulls star point guard. Check it out.
