Missing a cut at a PGA tournament has to be tough. Just by being a pro you’re clearly a good golfer, yet when you lose that badly you realize a ton of people are better than you and you now have no shot at making any money. So after he missed the cut at the Sony Open on Friday, who could blame Robert Allenby for heading out for a relaxing glass (or five) of wine?

After Allenby and his friend paid their tab just before 11 PM at a Waikiki Beach wine bar, the 43-year-old tour veteran waited while his friend went to the bathroom and was all of a sudden being forcibly thrown into a car. Allenby told the Australian Associated Press that “I didn't think I was going to survive this one,” and he was later discovered in a park 6.5 miles away.

The kidnappers had taken Allenby’s cash, credit cards, and cell phone, leaving him with a nasty scrape on his face as well:

Allenby says that the Honolulu police have several leads thanks to the surveillance footage from the bar, and he is optimistic they’ll apprehend whoever committed the crime. With $27 million in career earnings (27th all-time), it will probably take more than petty theft to seriously impact Allenby’s financial status.
