There were a lot of ways to frame this year's Rose Bowl between Oregon and Florida State. For starters, it was the first ever game for the new college playoff. On top of that, it was a matchup between the last two winners of the Heisman Trophy. And finally, it was the first (and probably only) loss in the collegiate career of Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston.

That being said, it was a beat down with a margin (59-20) of pretty much four losses, combined. While many people thought that #3 Florida State probably wasn't one of the top four teams in the country, it was still impossible to keep out the last remaining unbeaten in FBS football (who also happened to be the defending champs). Riding a 29-game winning streak, their play was absolutely abysmal, with the lowlight of the game being this unrecognizable dump of a play from the normally unflappable Winston:

1.

In fact, things looked so bad from the future first-rounder that his own coach threatened to bench him if he didn't "calm the fuck down." Seriously, read his lips:

2.

Eventually, when the game was put well out of reach, Jimbo Fisher made the switch.

On the winner's side, Oregon looked completely dominant, meaning the winner of the Sugar Bowl (either Alabama or Ohio State) will surely have a short-lived celebration later on tonight.

Probable No. 1 overall pick Marcus Mariota finished the day (early, we might add) 26-36, for 338 yards, two touchdowns and an inconsequential pick. He also added 62 on the ground, along with another touchdown. His favorite target was freshman wideout Darren Carrington, who hauled in seven catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

For Jameis, it appears to be the end of a spectacular college career on the field, and a controversial/media scrutinized career off of it. For the perpetual bridesmaid Ducks, they'll move on to play for their first ever title next Monday, January 12th.

And while we really, truly could care less who won this game, we are happy that we don't have to hear that stupid Florida State war chant every other play for at least eight more months.
